Plans for a new housing development in South Gloucestershire are being finalised following the end of a public consultation last month.

Plan of our proposed new home at TytheringtonTogether with our development partners EG Carter, we've been seeking villagers’ views on our draft plans to build 24 homes on land to the west of Stowell Hill Road in Tytherington. The consultation period ended just before Christmas and now we're planning on meeting with the parish council to discuss the plans and will then review all of the feedback we've received on our plans. Our proposal is to build a mix of one-bedroom flats and two and three-bedroom houses, all of which would be available for social rent and allocated through South Gloucestershire Council’s Homechoice lettings service. New trees would be planted at various points across the site as part of the development.

Partnerships director Clare Crawford said: “We’d like to thank everyone who took the time to comment on our initial proposals for these new homes in Tytherington. We will now review them and make any final amends to our draft plans before submitting a planning application to the council in the next month or so, when there will a further opportunity for people to comment on the plans.

“We believe there is a real need for more quality, affordable housing in rural areas across the area in villages like Tytherington. Although we are already the largest housing association in South Gloucestershire, providing more than 8,500 affordable homes we know the demand is greater still. The council’s draft housing strategy has identified that thousands of new affordable homes are needed over the next 20 years and these homes, if approved, will play a part in meeting this demand.”

If we receive planning permission for the development we hope to start on site towards the end of the year with the homes due to be completed in summer 2024. We are the largest builder of social rent homes in England and one of the biggest housebuilding housing associations, delivering more than 1,200 new homes last year.
