Our customer portal will be unavailable from 8am on Monday 14 October until 8am Monday 21 October due to maintenance of our systems.

We want your home to work for you. So if something could make your life easier due to an illness or disability, please let us know. We have two categories of adaptations, depending on what's involved. We call them minor and major.

Major adaptations

More extensive changes to your home are classed as a major adaptations.

Your local council can usually pay for and arrange these major adaptations through a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG).

Apply for a disabled facilities grant

We call more complicated or extensive work a major adaptation.

It includes things like:

  • a level-access shower
  • a fully accessible kitchen
  • equipment like stairlifts or bathing lifts
  • access ramps
  • extensions

Your local council can usually pay for and arrange these major adaptations through a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG).

A DFG will require an assessment of your needs, your home, and your income.

If you receive any equipment through a grant, it will either be your responsibility or that of the council’s to maintain and service it.

If you do not qualify for a Disabled Facilities Grant, we may consider a direct request for major adaptations when supported by your local authority.

Minor adaptations

We may be able to arrange minor adaptations to your home.

The kind of things we can sort out here.

If the change you need isn't in this list, please tell us what you need, and we will help if we can. If we can't, we'll guide you to get you in touch with organisations who can help.
