About MyPlace
Each MyPlace scheme offers self-contained apartments, shared community spaces and support from specialist care providers and Bromford colleagues. It's a place where people can build confidence, develop skills and make the most of opportunities in their local community.
Whether it's learning to manage your own home, becoming more involved in your community or building social connections, MyPlace is designed to help you take the next step in a safe and secure space.
Is MyPlace right for you?
To live at MyPlace, you'll need an assessed need for care and support from your local authority.
MyPlace could be a good option if you:
- want to live more independently
- have a learning disability or long-term mental health issue
- need care and support
- want to learn new skills and build confidence
- would like to meet new people and be part of a community
- are moving on from living with family or form supported accommodation
What you can expect at MyPlace
You'll be living in your own self-contained apartment, with access to shared community spaces and support from carers and Bromford colleagues. Night support can be provided if needed and we'll work with you to make sure you receive the best care package for your needs.
Before you move into MyPlace, we'll talk you through your finances with you and help you understand the costs involved.
As a tenant, you'll be responsible for:
- rent
- service charges
- council tax
- gas, electricity and water
- TV license
- internet and TV subscriptions
Some or all of your rent and service charges may be covered Housing Benefit. We'll work with you to understand what support you're entitled to and help you through the application process if needed.
MyPlace offers a safe and secure place to call home. The main entrance has an intercom system, so you can choose who enters the building. Every apartment has its own lockable front door, and CCTV operates around the outside of the building for added reassurance.
A home where you can thrive
MyPlace offers you a safe and secure home for as long as you need it. When you move in you’ll be given a tenancy agreement and everything you need to know will be explained to you.
How long it takes to apply for a home
This changes all the time depending on how my customers we have. The best thing to do is to contact the MyPlace scheme you’re interested in and have a chat with Bromford’s housing enabler.
Visitors
Your MyPlace apartment is your home so of course you can have visitors. We do need to consider all of our customers living at MyPlace so all we ask is that you let us know who is visiting and how long they’ll be staying with you for.
