We have been named England’s largest provider of social rented homes by leading sector magazine Inside Housing.

For the second year running, Inside Housing’s Biggest Builders Survey – which analyses year end performance data across the housing sector – has ranked us as building the most homes for social rent in England, and second in Britain.

We constructed 444 homes for social rent in 2021 to 2022, an increase of 18% on the 377 our teams delivered in the previous year. The news is particularly significant given the mounting cost of living crisis because homes for social rent are the most affordable provided by landlords. Across our four localities, the average monthly difference between social rent and affordable rent is £116.15 – or £1,393.80 each year – enabling more of our customers to thrive financially.

The Biggest Builders Survey also confirms we are number fifth nationally for overall number of homes built after we completed 1,224 last year, compared to 902 in 2020 to 2021.

Martyn Blackman, our chief investment officer, said:

We are very much at the early phase of our growth trajectory and are delighted that despite ongoing materials and supply chain challenges, we exceeded our targets for the year and this is testament to the hard work, dedication, and excellence of our teams and strong external partnerships.
Being named the largest builder of social rented homes in England for the second consecutive year is an achievement we are really proud of because we know this is the most affordable option for our aspiring customers, and it completely reinforces Bromford’s core purpose which is investing in homes and relationships so people can thrive.
