Dozens of families will be celebrating Easter in a brand new home following the completion of a new affordable housing development in Tetbury.New homes in Tetbury

The final homes at our new development off Quercus Road were completed last week and are now all fully occupied, with most residents having a connection to the town. The 30 homes, which were built by our development partners EG Carter, are a mixture of two and three-bedroom houses and one and two-bedroom flats, all of which are for social rent.

Our project manager Abby Ranger said:

It’s a fantastic feeling to see customers moving into our new homes at the end of a project like this. These homes help address the housing shortage in the area and provide warm, affordable homes that allow local people to remain living in the areas where they grew up in or work. They look amazing and I’m sure that our customers will enjoy living here for many years to come.

Mathew Vye, associate director at E G Carter & Co Ltd, said:

We are delighted to have handed over another successful project to Bromford. These homes will provide much needed affordable homes to the area. We look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with Bromford as part of the Construction Partnership to deliver even more new homes throughout Gloucestershire and the West of England.

To mark the completion of the year-long construction project, Bromford and EG Carter invited Cotswold District Council leader, Cllr Joe Harris, and cabinet member for housing and homelessness, Cllr Lisa Spivey, to have a look round the finished development.

Speaking afterwards, Cllr Spivey added:

Developments like this, that provide so many new homes for social rent, are incredibly important because of the cost of renting or buying homes in the Cotswolds is out of reach for many people.

The proximity of these homes to the centre of town means that residents will be able to easily access all of the shops and amenities that Tetbury has to offer.

The Tetbury homes are among 444 homes for social rent that we have completed during the past year, out of a total of 1,224. And last month we also formally signed our new £240m strategic partnership with Homes England, which will enable us to build 4,000 affordable homes across the Midlands and West of England over the next few years. We were one of 31 partners announced by the government agency to increase the number of affordable homes being built in the country.
