Bromford has been ‘Highly Commended’ by judges at a glittering housing awards ceremony in London last night (Thursday 24 October).

Colleagues from across our new homes team were presented with a framed certificate by Irish comedian and TV presenter Dara Ó Briain at the 2019 Housebuilder Awards. The successful entry was for our £10.5m retirement living scheme in Stourport-on-Severn, called School Gardens, which opened in summer 2018 and involved the restoration of a historic Victorian primary school.

Judges were impressed with our use of design, delivery, and customer care with multi-disciplinary design practice rg+p being crowned overall winners in the hotly contested ‘Best Retirement Scheme’ category which also saw McCarthy & Stone and Gailliford Try Partnerships nominated.

A number of colleagues attended the valuable networking event at InterContinental London including Martyn Blackman, executive director of new homes, Catherine Jarrett, director of sales and marketing, Ian Humphries, land and planning director, and Simon Kershaw, head of construction.

Retirement living business manager Helen Shields, reflecting on a successful evening in the capital, said: “The quality of this year’s nominations was really high. We were in the same company as some of the best providers of retirement living housing in the UK so we are absolutely delighted to receive the ‘Highly Commended’ award.

“One of our strategy goals is to build homes that enable even more customers to thrive and School Gardens is a fantastic example of how we have been able to use our expertise as a housing association developer to provide a vibrant, new retirement living community with all the quality and technical ability you may have traditionally expected from some of the large housebuilders.”

The ceremony, which had 13 categories in total, is seen as one of the premier fixtures on the housebuilding industry calendar.

Bromford has recently completed its second retirement living complex, Park Gardens in Banbury, with apartments for over 55s still available. Visit this page to find out more.
