Bromford has been given the green light on proposals for a new multi-million pound housing development in Staffordshire.

They were given approval on 9th April by Lichfield District Council’s planning committee to transform vacant land in Burntwood into a new MyPlace supported housing development with 14 self-contained one bedroom apartments.

Also included in the £3.1m proposals, situated just off the high street in Cannock Road, are 13 two and three-bedroom homes for affordable rent taking the total number of new homes to 27.

The MyPlace scheme aims to give adults with learning disabilities the opportunity to live in their own home and includes a communal hub, kitchen area, site office, car parking and landscaped gardens. The 13 additional homes consist of eight two-beds and five three-beds.

Staffordshire County Council identified a need for this type of accommodation in the local area and being situated near to Burntwood high street, the site is a short walk from local shops, restaurants, parks, leisure centres and schools and colleges.

Now that planning permission has been granted, Bromford’s in-house construction team will shortly begin clearing the site ready for construction by November 2018.

New business manager, Josie Bishton, said: “We are delighted that council members and officers have regarded this as a much-needed development and have granted us permission to proceed with what is a multi-million pound investment in the local area.

“As the main housing provider in Lichfield District, this is an area we know well and where we are really keen to invest in. This 27-home development will not only provide affordable housing for local people but also give vulnerable people the opportunity to live in a safe and secure environment where they can take control of their own life, reduce their dependency and ultimately live more independently.”
