Amy-May Knowles, aged 16, has won the Cirencester Rotary Club's 'Young Citizen of the Year Award 2012' for her outstanding contribution to Cirencester Youth Town Council and for setting up a charity for 'Critical Response Pain Syndrome', a condition her mum suffers from.
Amy-May is a Bromford Support customer from Cirencester and is the chairperson of Cirencester Youth Town Council.
Bromford's Clare Bartlett, who works as neighbourhood relations advisor/ youth information officer for Cirencester Town Council, said: "I nominated Amy-May. She has been with us now for 18 months and has really grown as a person over this time. I am very proud to say that two of the young people I nominated have received this award - last year, Alex Burton won it for all his volunteering work within the community
"Being a part of these young people's lives is a true honour for me and I am glad I can make a difference and offer them a chance to become something and be a vital part in making Cirencester a better place for all."
Amy-May said: "I am so pleased to have won the award. It means a lot to me and certainly has given me confidence to progress with ideas I would like to see happen. I am so thankful to Clare for all her help and support and would like to thank the rotary club for their support as well."
