Bromford has just been announced as the top builder of social rent homes in a new survey of Britain’s biggest builders.

Earlier this week, Inside Housing magazine published its Biggest Builders 2021 survey, putting Bromford in top spot when it comes to providing homes for social rent. Of the 902 homes we built in 2020-2021, 377 were for social rent.

We believe in providing safe, secure and warm homes to enable our customers to thrive and it’s a key part of our strategy to provide affordable homes for people who can’t access market housing.

Our chief investment officer Martyn Blackman said: “We’re delighted to be recognised as leading the way in this field. An integral part of our strategy is the development of new affordable homes and we are clear that, where we can, we should prioritise homes for social rent. These homes are most affordable for customers and reduce the financial pressures they face.

“Providing more truly affordable homes plays a key part in helping reduce levels of homelessness – another of our strategic goals.“

Last year we continued to increase the number of homes we deliver on land we have acquired rather than relying purely on delivery through Section 106. This land-led programme gives us more control of the type of homes we deliver. Supported by our strategic partnership with Homes England, we have been able to increase the number of social rented homes we have built.

This approach also gives us greater control over the delivery of our homes and made us more resilient to programme delays during the pandemic.
