Plans for new affordable homes on a former school site have been approved.

Telford & Wrekin Council have approved plans for us to build 48 new homes on the site of the former Grange Park Primary School in Stirchley. The school moved to its new premises in 2017 since when the old buildings have been demolished and the site has lain empty.

The new homes, which will be built by our in-house construction team, will be a mix of one-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom bungalows and two and three bedroom semi-detached and terraced homes. Most of the homes will be available for rent, although 14 homes will be sold through part-buy part-rent shared ownership. All the two and three bed homes will have two parking spaces, with the one-bedroom apartments having one space each.

Planning manager Becky Crann said: “This is great news for local people in need of affordable housing in Stirchley as all the homes we’ll be building here are for affordable rent or affordable home ownership.

“It’s a great location with a number of amenities, including Grange Park Primary School’s new premises, within short walking distance. We’re looking forward to seeing the homes take shape and welcoming our new customers into them.”

Bromford is one of the biggest builders of affordable housing in the country. After building more than 2,000 new homes over the past two years it is aiming to increase its development programme and complete a further 12,000 homes by 2028.
