What is 'My Home Energy?

'My Home Energy' is a free service for customers to help you get the best price for your gas and electric.

It’s a partnership between the National Housing Federation and Green Star Energy. The National Housing Federation represents the work of housing associations and 'My Home Energy' is a service provided for housing associations and their tenants.

It’s free, fast and simple to switch and all the paperwork is taken care of. It usually takes around 17 days to complete the switch.

Even if you have switched before, it’s a good idea to check prices around every 6-9 months as energy prices and tariffs change frequently.

You can use this service even if you have a pre-payment meter as you could be able to switch to a cheaper pre-payment tariff. To find out more about switching suppliers, click here.

How to Switch:

Step 1

Call 0800 0014 706 or visit All you need is your most recent bill and your postcode. It will take no more than 5 minutes!

Step 2

Select the best deal for you and complete the switch with the help of the 'My Home Energy' team.

Step 3

Sit back and wait. Green Star Energy will contact you to confirm the start date of your new service. You will need to take a meter reading on this date.

Can anyone switch?

There are some circumstances in which people may not be able to benefit from online switching.

For example, if you have an exit penalty in your energy contract you will need to talk to your current supplier first.

If you owe money on your gas or electric bill you may not be able to switch unless you have entered into an agreement to clear any arrears.
