Two of our talented colleagues, Alfie Davies and Chris Gearon, are heading to the House of Commons after being shortlisted for this year’s Youthbuild UK Awards on Wednesday 15 October.
Alfie joined us in September 2024 as an Apprentice Multi Skilled Engineer in our Empty Homes (Central) team. From his very first assessment day, he stood out for his communication skills, enthusiasm, and how he demonstrates our Bromford DNA in everything he does.
Alfie has overcome significant challenges in his early life. After his parents separated, he and his younger brother were raised by their mum on a low income. Struggling at school and labelled the “naughtiest pupil,” Alfie turned his focus to his GCSEs, balancing college with part-time work to support his family.
Empty Homes Manager Scott Bradford said: “Alfie has been amazing from day one. He’s taken everything on board with his mentor and has been absolutely brilliant. We’re really excited for him to attend the Youthbuild Awards at the House of Commons and can’t wait for him to have this experience.”

Chris Gearon from Flagship has also been nominated. “I’m really happy to be recognised. It’s an honour,” Chris said.
Chris’s manager, Michael, added: “It’s really good for Chris. Despite being shortlisted and recognised, he doesn’t let any of that get to him. He’s just focused on doing his job, which is a great reflection of his character. Chris has stepped up and shown that hard work and determination can get you where you want to be. He’s an inspiration to the other apprentices, and the rest of the business, proving that anything is possible.”
Alfie and Chris’s recognition at the Youthbuild UK Awards reflects their commitment, resilience, and dedication. They have made significant strides in their careers while overcoming challenges, setting an example for others.
