For most of their lives, Pippa's children had only known one home.
The family had lived in the same house for 15 years when they lost their home and were forced to move into temporary accommodation following a section 21 notice from their previous landlord. What followed was 15 months of uncertainty for Pippa, her husband and their three children.
Pippa Baker, from Gloucester, said: "Going into temporary accommodation was really difficult for my children because they'd never known another home."
The family of five were living in a two-bedroom flat. Their dog had to stay with relatives, and with two autistic children, the environment became increasingly difficult. Pippa says the experience affected both the family's mental and physical health.
Like many families living in temporary accommodation, everyday life became focused on getting through each day rather than planning for the future.
After more than a year in temporary accommodation, the family began the process of moving into a Bromford home.
For Pippa, the experience felt different from the start. She says communication was clear, honest and reassuring throughout the process. Questions were answered quickly, expectations were explained and the family felt supported at a time when they needed it most.
"It really felt like a light at the end of the tunnel."
Today, the family is settled into a home where everyone has space to spend time together, enjoy their hobbies and simply relax. For the first time in a long time, they have the security and stability that comes with knowing they have a place to call home.
The biggest impact has been on the children. Friends can come round. Sleepovers are now possible. School is going well and family life feels more settled.
"The biggest change is the children's confidence. The kids are now sleeping better, eating better and able to make the most of opportunities that simply weren't possible while living in temporary accommodation.”
Today, the family is enjoying the simple things that many people take for granted: time together, room to grow and the comfort of knowing they have somewhere they can truly call home.
Looking back on the journey, Pippa says moving into a permanent home has transformed life for the whole family.
