Customers looking for a home that better suits their needs are being invited to attend our upcoming mutual exchange open day.
The event will bring together customers who are interested in swapping homes through a mutual exchange.
The open day will take place on Wednesday 28 October at our office at 5 Stowe Road, Lichfield. Customers will be able to meet other tenants looking to move, find out more about the mutual exchange process and get advice and support from the team.
Throughout the day, colleagues from our Empty Homes, Neighbourhoods and Income teams will be on hand to support and answer any questions. Colleagues from Lichfield District Council’s Housing Team will also be attending to provide support and advice on other housing matters.
What is a mutual exchange?
A mutual exchange is a way for social housing customers to swap homes with another social housing customer. For many people, it can be a quicker way to find a home that better suits your needs than applying through the housing register.
Customers who are unsure whether they're eligible are encouraged to attend and speak to the team. While customers taking part in a mutual exchange will generally need to have an assured, secure or fixed-term tenancy, every situation is different and colleagues will be happy to discuss individual circumstances.
Even if you have rent arrears or concerns about the condition of your home, we'd still encourage you to come along and talk to us. Our teams can help you understand your options, identify any steps that may be needed and explore the support available.
There'll also be refreshments available on the day, games and activities for children, and everyone who attends will be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a voucher.
