We’re supporting Gas Safety Week (13 to 19 September) and helping to raise awareness of the importance of staying gas safe. To help, you can even get yourself a free carbon monoxide alarm.

Things that could keep you and your family safe

Alarms - Carbon monoxide has no smell or colour. It's made when things burn and causes the death of around 60 people in the UK each year. Regular servicing and alarms (when needed) can help prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.

Appointments - Our Gas Safe registered engineer's service around 38,829 homes each year. Appointments help us to keep you and your family safe.

Appliance checks - Worried an appointment might take too long? It takes our engineers around 30 to 40 minutes and could save you and your family from faulty appliances.

  • All of our Bromford Gas Safe engineers are working to Covid Safe guidelines, including the use of sanitisers in work areas and wearing PPE including masks, and our planning teams are available to speak to you about any concerns you may have around allowing access to your property.

Although we always give notice in writing and attend each property three times before considering further action we have recently seen an increase in Gas Capping - this is when we are unable to gain access to the property on several occasions, and cannot make arrangements for access with the customer and we have to cap the external gas meter for safety until the Gas Safety check can be completed.

We really want to avoid this, as it is inconvenient for customers and puts a strain on gas engineer resources meaning we may not be able to respond as quickly to other customers. If an appointment is not convenient, we can change it with 48 hours’ notice and if there are other reasons customers are reluctant to provide access then this can be discussed with their neighbourhood coach to see how we can help.
