Plans for 128 affordable homes in Wychbold have been approved, bringing new housing opportunities for local families.
The 17.3-acre Crown Lane site near Droitwich will be developed by Bromford, part of Bromford Flagship, together with land promoter Richborough who progressed the site through planning and secured consent for the project in October.
Of the 128 homes planned, 95 will be for social rent (set at 60% of market rates) and allocated to families on the local council waiting list. The remaining 33 homes will be available through shared ownership, offering a more affordable route into home ownership.
Lyndon Parkes, Bromford’s Head of Land & New Business, said: “We’re pleased to be bringing our brand of high-quality, affordable homes to Wychbold.
“It’s an area in great need of affordable, secure, long-term housing options and it’s a huge privilege to be able to deliver that.”
The development will include new pedestrian links to make it easier for residents to walk into the village. Green spaces, new hedgerows and native planting will also be included as part of the design.
Hannah Deverell, Disposals Director at Richborough, said: “This scheme has been shaped to respond to local character, landscape setting and community need. We’re pleased to see it progressing with a partner committed to high-quality affordable provision.”
The scheme has received planning permission from Wychavon District Council.
Matthew Barker, Partner at property consultants Fisher German, said: “This proposal represents a logical and well-considered village extension, and we’re pleased to have helped unlock its potential for much-needed affordable homes to this area.”
Work on the new homes is expected to begin in the coming months.
