We're delighted to have completed a deal to purchase part of a former railway depot in the centre of Gloucester which will provide more than 100 affordable homes for the city.
We've acquired the southern phase of the Great Western Yard site off Great Western Road near the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in a multi-million pound deal with Eutopia Homes. The redevelopment of the former railway yard was given the go-ahead in January this year for 315 homes to be built across the entire site, of which we will be building 113 on the southern phase. Our homes will be a mix of 87 houses and 26 flats for rent and shared ownership
In addition to the new homes, we'll be providing parking spaces for 125 cars and 234 bicycles alongside a playground. The homes will be built utilising modern methods of construction, including timber frames, with our in-house construction team aiming to start on site in autumn 2025.

The acquisition of land at Great Western Yard is our latest successful purchase of land in the wider Gloucester area. Over the past year we've completed the acquisition of an 11-acre site in Highnam where it plans to build 95 homes and also secured land at Blackbridge to deliver 30 new homes.
