Due to significant demand, Customer Alterations are pausing new applications until Wednesday 16 September, if this relates to Home Ownership or Shared Ownership, these will proceed as normal.
Customers are being invited to share their views on the proposed transfer of Merlin Housing Society (Merlin) to Bromford Housing Association (BHA). For Merlin customers, the formal consultation began on 21 July 2026 and runs until 9 September 2026.
The proposal would bring Merlin and BHA together under a single legal structure through a process known as a transfer of engagements. If approved, BHA would become the landlord or freeholder for Merlin customers.
There would be no changes to tenancy agreements or leases apart from a change to the legal name of the landlord or freeholder.
The proposed transfer would:
- Align legal arrangements with how services already operate. Merlin customers already receive services through Bromford's systems, teams and service standards.
- Create a simpler, easier-to-manage organisation by reducing the number of legal entities within the group and streamlining governance and oversight.
- Reduce costs and make better use of resources by removing duplication in governance, reporting and administration, creating savings that can be reinvested in homes, services and communities while supporting long-term stability.
Merlin customers are being invited to share their feedback in a number of ways, including online, by phone, in person or through a video meeting. Once the consultation has closed, we will publish a summary of what it has heard and explain how customer feedback has helped inform the final decision.
