David Garrick Gardens has introduced a series of free weekly activities designed to bring residents together, support wellbeing, and tackle loneliness. Funded by Lichfield District Council, the activities take place in the scheme’s communal lounge and offer a variety of options to suit different interests and abilities.
Sessions have included Gentle Fit exercises, Tai Chi, mindfulness and meditation, “Dance Memories,” and craft workshops called “Dawdle and Do.” Customers attend regularly, giving them the chance to exercise, learn new skills, and socialise with their neighbours.
The programme helps customers maintain physical and mental wellbeing while also providing opportunities to build friendships and community connections. By offering a wide range of activities, the scheme ensures that there is something for everyone to enjoy, supporting inclusion and engagement across the building.
The weekly sessions have become a highlight for many residents, providing structure, entertainment, and opportunities to take part in positive and meaningful activities close to home.
