We've been given the go-ahead for our latest 100% affordable housing scheme in Gloucester, a major step that will provide 30 new homes for local families.

Gloucester City Council approved our plans for the new housing development at New Dawn View, next to the Crypt School, earlier this month. We had sought permission for a mixed development of semi-detached houses and maisonettes, with 19 homes to be made available to rent and 11 for low-cost home ownership through our shared ownership scheme.

Bromford Project Manager Corrina Johnson said: “We’re thrilled to have been given the green light to bring these much-needed affordable homes to Gloucester. We know demand for affordable housing in the city is extremely high and this scheme reflects our commitment to meeting that demand by increasing the availability of quality affordable homes that will have a positive impact on the local community.

“We’ve worked closely with Gloucester City Council to ensure this development meets the highest standards of design, sustainability and community integration and appreciate the support they’ve given to our application. We’re now looking forward to getting spades in the ground in early 2026 and delivering these 30 new homes.”

Planning consultancy, SF Planning, have been involved with the site for a number of years, starting when it was allocated by Gloucester City Council for residential development. Mark Godson, Director at SF Planning explained:

“This is a really important site for affordable housing in Gloucester. The application process has involved multiple phases, and we’re delighted to have now secured the consent that means development on site can begin”.

Councillor Luke Shervey, Cabinet member for Housing, Gloucester City Council said: "I’m absolutely delighted to see the delivery of a fully affordable housing scheme right here in Gloucester. This development is a vital step forward in providing much needed homes for our most vulnerable residents, hardworking families, and everyone who calls Gloucester their home and place of work. It’s fantastic to be working with Bromford, a trusted housing delivery partner."

We purchased the 2.5-acre site from Gloucestershire County Council in 2024 as part of our plans to expand our in-house construction programme. We are the largest housing association in Gloucestershire and are currently on site building new homes at a number of sites across the county including elsewhere in Gloucester, Winchcombe and Stroud.
