Naomi Kent, a Bromford customer and now an Apprentice Electrician, recently visited the Houses of Parliament to advocate for the future of apprenticeships.
Having lived in a Bromford home for 11 years, Naomi found a way to combine her passion for helping people with her career. Naomi said: "I've always liked working with people and helping them, so to do something interesting, outside the box and still helping people, just made sense."
Naomi is going into her final year of a four-year apprenticeship and was invited to speak to MPs alongside her training provider, JTL. Her mission was to share her personal experience and highlight the importance of these programs in addressing the growing shortage of skilled electricians in the UK. Highlighting to MPs that Bromford received over 1,000 applications for just 13 apprentice positions this year, showing the demand for these opportunities.
Naomi’s visit highlights our commitment to providing career pathways within our communities. We’re here to support Naomi, and many others, to build a future they can be proud of, while also helping create the skilled workforce our communities and country need.
