A neighbouring golf course and free allotments to dig is the setting for almost 100 affordable homes to be built in Nuneaton for local families.

Housing provider Bromford Flagship LiveWest (BFL) bought the land, just off Golf Drive, earlier this year. Each of the 97 homes will be affordable, and all of them built by BFL's own in-house construction team.

Catherine Jarrett, BFL’s Regional Director of New Homes, said: “With such a need for affordable housing we’re so excited to deliver these new homes for Nuneaton.

“Providing somewhere for local families to live unlocks sustainable growth, which ultimately enables the people coming to these homes and this community to thrive. We’re proud to be part of so many homes coming to the area.”

Of the 97 homes, 35 will be for social rent, the lowest-cost option, set by a national formula well below market levels, and 36 will be for affordable rent, capped at 80% of the local market rate. Both will be allocated to families on the local housing waiting list. The other 26 will be for shared ownership, an affordable route into home ownership which involves buying a share of the property and paying rent on the remaining shares.

As the name suggests, the development will be surrounded by the green spaces of Nuneaton Golf Club. Matching all that greenery will be allotments through the middle of the development, which will be free for the residents to choose what they grow for the community.

Each home will have energy-efficient features including solar panels and electric vehicle charging points.

The development is also supported by grant funding from Homes England. Construction on the homes is expected to get underway in the coming months.
