Noise issues are one of the most common causes of tension between neighbours.
We wouldn’t consider day to day or one-off noises to be anti-social behaviour but if it is persistent or happens at anti-social hours then get in touch.
Not all noise is anti-social
We don't consider the following to be ASB:
- DIY or jobs in the garden
- Household activities like moving around the home or using stairs, door slamming, noisy appliances, flushing toilets or pipework
- Children playing or crying
- One-off parties or celebrations
- Dogs barking or pet noise
In these cases, we expect our customers to resolve these issues between themselves. Your neighbour may not know they're causing a disturbance. We recommend talking to them and working together to agree a resolution.
Reporting noise issues
If you’ve tried talking to your neighbour, and the noise is persistent or happens in the night-time you can report to us using your online account or using the form below. We will need you to keep a record of when you hear the noise using diary sheets.
We will also ask you to report to your local authority environmental teams who hold a statutory duty to investigate noise complaints, we will work alongside them on a resolution.
