Every few years, we visit each of our homes to check its condition. We call this a Home Survey. Home surveys help us understand the condition of your home so we can plan future repairs and improvements. This could include things like new kitchens, bathrooms, windows or roofs.

The information we collect helps us keep our records up to date, invest in our homes, and make sure they're safe, comfortable and well maintained for our customers. Because we can only plan this work for homes we've surveyed, allowing us access helps make sure your home isn't missed.

What to expect

If your home is due for a survey, we'll contact you to arrange an appointment.

One of our surveyors will visit your home and carry out a visual inspection, which usually takes around 45 minutes to complete.

During the visit, they'll look at things like:

  • The structure of your home, including walls, roofs, windows and doors
  • Your kitchen and bathroom, including fittings, plumbing and ventilation
  • Visible electrical items, such as sockets and your fuse box
  • The general condition of your home and any maintenance that may be needed
The surveyor may take notes, photographs and measurements to help us accurately record the condition of your home. There's no need to tidy up or prepare anything before the visit.

Why should I take part?

The survey helps us understand what improvements your home may need in the future.

For example, it helps us plan when things like kitchens, bathrooms, windows and roofs may need replacing. It also helps us identify any repairs, maintenance issues, or concerns such as damp and mould that may need attention.

If we identify anything that needs urgent attention, we'll arrange for it to be dealt with as quickly as possible. However, if we haven't surveyed your home recently, we may not have the up-to-date information we need to plan future improvements.

That's why it's important that we can access your home when a survey is due.
