As your landlord, we insure the building and any fixtures or items we provide. We do not insure your personal belongings.
Contents insurance is designed to cover a household’s possessions. This can include items such as furniture, electrical goods, clothing, curtains and rugs. Policies may provide cover against events such as fire, flooding caused by a domestic appliance, or theft following a break-in.
There are different ways to arrange contents insurance:
- many insurance providers offer contents insurance policies that can be adapted to different levels of cover and cost
- online comparison websites allow customers to compare prices, cover limits and policy features from multiple insurers
- some insurers offer policies aimed specifically at tenants, which may include weekly or monthly payment options
Before taking out a policy, it is important to check:
- what is included and excluded from the cover
- the excess payable if you make a claim
- whether the level of cover reflects the value of your belongings
Contents insurance provides financial cover for personal belongings if they are damaged, destroyed or stolen, subject to the terms of the policy.
