We know purchasing a new home can be stressful but don’t lose the plot! Get buyer ready. 

Here at Bromford, we have an easy 4-step application process for our Shared Ownership customers.

Step 1. Register with Help to Buy

Step 2. Check your local area connection

Step 3. Contact our IFA (Independent Financial Advisors)

Step 4. Start the reservation process

Once you've started your application with us, you will be asked to provide documents to our recommended Independent Financial Advisors the Mortgage Advice Bureau or TMP Mortgages to complete an affordability assessment to support your application within five working days.

Gathering the right documents together ahead of time will help ease the stress of the process and help you get one step ahead when applying to purchase the home you desire.

What you’ll need:

  • proof of your identity - a full-colour copy of your passport, photo driving licence
  • a full credit report  
  • proof of savings. you will need to have enough savings to cover your deposit, mortgage, legal fees and other costs associated with buying a new home
  • proof of income - pay slips covering the last three months or three years’ accounts if you are self-employed (i.e. copies of your SA302s and your latest P60)
  • bank statements covering the last three months.
  • documents showing details of any loan agreements you already have
  • credit card statements for the last three months - if you have one
  • if you are currently in rented accommodation you’ll need to provide a copy of your rent book and/or a rent statement.
  • if you have a mortgage on your current home you’ll need to provide statements for the last six months. 
  • finally, once your application is approved you will need a reservation fee of £500 and you’re good to go!
