We know that applying for a new job is a big deal, and you’ll probably have lots of questions about what to expect during the process, so we’ve included some information for you, but we’re also happy for you to contact us if you have any questions that you can’t find the answers to here.

Your application

We’ve designed our application process to give you an idea of what it’s like to work here and help you understand more about the role you’re applying for and your part in our team. Our adverts and job descriptions will tell you a lot about the role, and what our ideal candidate looks like. Make sure you read these before sending us your application, and include details about your relevant experience and achievements, as well as how you meet our values and behaviours, so that we can see how you’re the perfect match.

What to expect:

Our values, which we call our DNA, sit at the heart of our business. It’s the essence of who we are, what we do and why we do. It was developed by more than 500 colleagues, talking about why Bromford is special; what makes us different and how we should operate. That is why our DNA forms such a crucial part in how we recruit.

  • Initial review: Our recruitment team and the manager of the role will review your application; we may give you a call to chat through the role in more detail, or check out the information you’ve given in your application. If you’re shortlisted, we’ll invite you to an interview.
  • Interviews: This could be over Teams, face-to-face or as part of an assessment centre. Most of our interviews are competency-based questions to see if you’re a good fit for the role. We also ask behaviour-based questions, which are based around our DNA, to make sure you are a good fit for Bromford. It’s not just about your past experience; we value your skills and how they can be applied to help you thrive in the role. Sometimes we’ll ask you back for a second interview, and this will be a face to face interview.
  • Practical tests: Sometimes, depending on the role, we’ll include some technical tests too. If you’re applying for a trades role, we’ll ask you to carry out some practical tests to show off your skills. For customer service roles, we may go through some customer based scenarios with you. We’ll make sure you have all the details in advance so there’ll be no surprises for you.

Throughout the process, we'll also be considering your attitude and behaviour as much as your knowledge and experience. We want this experience to be a positive one and

it’s really important that we're the right match for each other. We hope you come away with a clear understanding of what we offer and how it meets your needs and ambitions. Feel free to come prepared with any questions you may have.

Feedback

We always want to provide feedback to every candidate we’ve interviewed and aim to do so within ten working days. Sometimes there are exceptions to this, especially when we receive high volumes of applications, so if you've requested feedback and not heard back within this time, feel free to give us a nudge.

Pre-employment checks

We’re committed to recruiting with care and safeguarding colleagues and customers. As a result, we carry out pre-employment checks for everyone who is offered a job with us.
