Within half a mile of home, you’ll find the pretty village of Long Buckby where the weekly village market offers the chance to buy locally produced cakes, preserves, eggs, craftwork, plants and garden products. The village also has a medley of shops catering for everything you might need. These include a pharmacy, supermarkets, newsagents, post office, butchers, florists, jewellers and four hairdressers.
The semi-rural location is also the perfect setting for a farm shop which sells its produce including free range eggs, seasonal fruit and vegetables, plants, hay, logs and mulch direct to the public.
The Grosvenor Centre, with its 60 shops, including names such as BHS, Boots, Costa and Pandora is just 11 miles away in Northampton and offers serious shoppers the opportunity to indulge in a little retail therapy.
If you like to be active, you won’t be disappointed. There are oodles of things to do close to home for all the family. If sport is your thing, Long Buckby boasts cricket, football, tennis, hockey, netball and rugby teams. There are a number of community groups, a Scout group and Brownie pack for the children with activities such as archery, bowls and a gardening club giving everyone the chance to get involved.
There are two pubs in the main village with another nicely located by the top lock on the Grand Union Canal at Buckby Wharf. There’s plenty to choose from in the way of food too - with five restaurants and several take-aways in the village.
The village has its own medical practice and two dentists plus various private complementary medicine practitioners. Long Buckby also has three main churches; Baptist, Church of England and United Reform plus a smaller Roman Catholic Church which is served from Daventry.
From the train station in the village you can be in London in 80 minutes*, Birmingham in 55 minutes* and Northampton in just 12 minutes*, making this a perfect location for commuters.
Long Buckby has infant and junior schools on separate sites. Secondary pupils are transported six miles to Guilsborough and there are other secondary schools in Daventry.
