Creative teenager Manvir Singh is studying at the City of Wolverhampton College apprentice design coordinator. We caught up with the 19-year-old, who lives in Dudley, to find out how his apprenticeship and time at Bromford is going.
Being able to work and learn at the same time was a crucial thing for me. I’ve found Bromford to be a very positive and supportive employer so far and the team I’m in are supportive of my college work, especially if I have questions about certain tasks. The team are always on hand to help me learn different processes which is great.
My apprenticeship involves issuing technical drawings to site and making sure that building regulations are met on each of our different house types. I have to communicate with a range of experienced architects on drawings and different types of house layouts and make sure that information gets given to the right person and on time. Each day has a new and varied task which can be the nature of the job as sites progress from the planning stage, to build stages to the final handover when our customers move into their new homes. I work Tuesday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm and on Mondays, I am at college for my day release and part of my 20% off the job training
My ambition is to carry on with my education and to then explore a degree-level apprenticeship so that I can hopefully move into a management-type role moving forwards.
We will soon be hiring apprentices but our graduate roles are available now! Check out our latest job vacancies for more information.
