Bromford has been named one of the country’s leading developers of affordable housing by a leading publication.

Inside Housing has today published its annual Top 50 Biggest Builders 2019 list showcasing the housing associations who have built the most new homes over the past year. And with 1,236 new homes built in 2018-19 Bromford is 9th on the list, up from 13th last year.

Of the homes built last year, 240 were for social rent and 490 were for affordable rent. Bromford also completed 431 homes for shared ownership, 11 retirement living homes, 30 homes for people with learning or physical disabilities and 34 homes that were sold on the open market.

Executive Director of New Homes Martyn Blackman said: “This has been a fantastic start to our ambitious ten-year goal to build 14,000 new homes across in the Midlands and South West by 2028. One our key strategic objectives is to build homes to enable even more customers to thrive and our success over the year means that more than 3,500 customers now have a safe, secure, modern place to call home.

“And we’re well on course to continue to grow our programme. Our financial strength, diverse programme and range of key partners will all contribute to us being able to deliver our ambitious plans.”

Bromford’s aspirations were enhanced earlier in the year when it became one of Homes England’s strategic partners. The announcement saw Bromford receive £66.4m to build 1,400 additional social rented, affordable rented and shared ownership homes.
