Bromford has been named the best in the industry for its approach to testing and developing new services at the 2017 UK Housing Awards.

Beating off stiff competition from the likes of Wigan & Leigh Homes, Bromford was announced the winner in the ‘Outstanding innovation of the year’ category for larger housing associations with over 20,000 stock. This recognises our bold approach to testing and developing new services, and in particular the service offer pilots where robust evidenced-based piloting eventually led to the rollout of our localities programme. The localities has placed a new neighbourhood coach role at the heart of each community with the brief of getting to know each and every customer and working with them to achieve their goals or aspirations.

The achievement was recognised last night (APR 26) at a glittering award ceremony at Lancaster London Hotel where the cream of the crop in our industry come together to celebrate wide-ranging success stories. The UKHA, which is sponsored by Inside Housing, first launched in 1997 and is described as the ‘most prestigious awards in the housing sector’.

Bromford’s innovative MyPlace model was also a finalist at the awards and competed against five other HAs in the category of ‘An outstanding approach to meeting specialist housing needs’. MyPlace provide homes for life for people living with long-term conditions such as a learning or physical disability or individuals with a mental health need.

Philippa Jones, Bromford’s chief executive, said: “This is fantastic recognition for so many colleagues and customers who have been at the very forefront of helping us test and shape our new approach – evolving from the original Bromford Deal to our new coaching approach and trusting relationship with customers. I’m particularly pleased that the panel praised our rigorous and transparent approach to testing and piloting our service offers through the Bromford Lab.

“In the face of an ever-shrinking welfare state it’s essential to explore different ways of working with our customers to help build their resilience and their personal and community support networks so we’re delighted that our forward-thinking approach has been recognised.”
