Since April 2013 the government has brought in a number of changes to benefits. Since Bedroom Tax, one of the biggest changes to come into effect will be Universal Credit.

This reform will combine some of the benefits you receive, including housing benefit, into one monthly payment which will be paid directly to you. You will now be responsible for paying your rent directly to Bromford.

From this month, Universal Credit will be available in different areas across the country as part of a national roll out. The first areas where Bromford operate that will receive Universal Credit are:

  • Birmingham
  • Dudley
  • East Staffordshire
  • Hereford
  • Lichfield
  • Redditch
  • Shropshire
  • South Oxfordshire
  • Stratford
  • Swindon
  • Tamworth
  • West Oxfordshire
  • Wiltshire

Universal Credit will be available at first to those who are new single claimants without children. If your circumstances change, you may be asked to sign up to Universal Credit.

This is a big change to how you will have recieved and manage your payments in the future. You will need to look at how you pay your rent, manage your money and pay your bills.

Don't fear, we have help and information at hand to get your ready for this big change:
