Three Staffordshire people have already secured work as a result of attending our second jobs fair in Lichfield last month and more positive outcomes are coming in every day.
Robert Edwards from Lichfield had just become unemployed when he attended the jobs fair but has gone straight back into work with a job at Argos. He said: “I arrived at the jobs fair at 10.30am. Fifteen minutes later I was on the way home with an appointment for an induction day at Argos and have now started my new job. Sorted!"
Frank Baldwin, also from Lichfield, was unemployed but is now working at the new Premier Inn as a chef, starting as part time but being made full time within a week. Tracy Smart, a mum from Fazeley near Tamworth, is now working full time for Sodexho as a food service assistant.
Organiser, Michael Pritchard said: “We are delighted with the growing numbers of successful outcomes from our latest jobs fair which we ran in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, the Chamber of Commerce, the National Careers Advice Service and local employers. What made the event so successful was that we only asked employers who had vacancies to attend and we are getting more successes coming though on a daily basis. For anyone who still needs help to get into work or change job, they can access our Lichfield hub and customers can speak to our skills coach service. I am always interested in talking to local businesses for new opportunities for our customers.” Michael can be contacted on Michael.firstname.lastname@example.org or 01543 420848.
Marilyn Castree, Divisional Director for the Lichfield & Tamworth Chamber of Commerce & Industry Chamber of Commerce said: “We know the unemployment figures are reducing and organisations seem to be experiencing additional sales, and this in turn creates a more buoyant market place. We are now seeing companies having the confidence to invest in their businesses which creates more growth opportunities and in turn translates into job opportunities and further growth within the economy.
“It was good to be involved once again with Bromford who have done a marvellous job in creating the jobs fair. We seem to be getting to a point where there are more jobs available than jobseekers!”
