Making a fresh start

When Adriana left a difficult relationship, she also had to leave her home in Devon. Though she could stay with her brother in the Midlands, she was only able to live there for a month so needed to find her own place. With the help of her family, she was able to move into a Bromford flat which she now lives in with her young daughter.

When they moved in, the flat was empty with only a mattress to sleep on and Adriana had no idea where to start with sorting out an income.

It was then that Sharon, one of our starting well coaches, knocked on her door to help her get her tenancy off to the best start. With her help, Adriana was able to address the language barrier, access the correct benefits and enroll on a course so that she can learn English. Once her daughter starts nursery, she plans to get a job and start living, in her words, a ‘normal life.’
