Nick Cummins, Executive Director at Bromford, begins his placement as a Support Worker today. Nick will be working with the Black Country cluster throughout the week, with his own caseload and plenty of opportunity to find out what it's like to be in regular contact with some supported customers.
Nick wants the placement to be an opportunity to develop a better understanding of support work as well as seeking out how to improve the efficiency of support processes and systems. Once his placement is over, Nick wants to be able to see a clearer picture of what Support work could look like in the future as Bromford works towards it's goal of becoming a top three affordable housing provider by 2016.
Today Nick is visiting some of Bromford Support's schemes in the Black Country. This morning he visited The Oaks, a scheme that offers supported accommodation together with support for elderly people. After going around the scheme to make sure customers were okay had everything they needed, Nick then showed an engineer to one of the schemes dryers that needed to be repaired.
When talking about his morning at The Oaks, Nick said, "The Oaks is a lovely scheme with happy people and great facilities. Our customers appreciate the service we provide for them here and you can really see that when you go and visit."
Nick will be continuing his visit to Support schemes this afternoon and will be going out to some of Bromford Support's customers' homes tomorrow.
