Bloomin’ marvellous community partnership brightens Staffordshire village

A major roof replacement project to improve the homes of hundreds of residents has led to a kind-hearted donation by the property maintenance business carrying out the work.

We are leading on a £1.2m roof refurbishment scheme in the village of Perton, just west of Wolverhampton, and already more than 200 homes have seen improvement works conducted. Our project partners, Novus Property Solutions, have been carrying out the work which has also included the revamp of garages, bin stores, and canopies. 

The initiative got underway in March and all 110 roofs, affecting 289 properties, will have been upgraded by summer 2020. As part of Novus’ efforts to put something back into the community, £700 was recently donated to Perton Parish Council which has been used to buy thousands of spring bulbs to spruce up the village.

Representatives from the local community came together at the end of October to start planting the bulbs on the Wrottersley Park roundabout – one of the main gateways into the village. The bulbs will be planted during the winter months and are expected to flower between February and May.

Benefit

Michelle Eden, customer liaison officer at Novus, explained: “We’ve been working closely with Bromford for a number of years and throughout this project we’ve been really keen to put something back into the local community and hope that the planting of these bulbs will leave a lasting benefit to residents and visitors.”

Neighbourhood coach, Eleanor Box, said: “One of Bromford’s strategic aims is to provide homes that enable all of our customers to thrive and through this roof refurbishment project, hundreds of customers will now spend less on their fuel bills and have more money for other things.

“Thousands of motorists and walkers pass this roundabout every single day so we’re delighted the long-standing partnership between Bromford and Novus will leave such a visual legacy for customers and villagers to enjoy thanks to the generosity of Michelle and her team.”

Councillor Penny Allen, of Perton Parish Council, added: “We are thrilled that Novus chose to sponsor this project which will brighten up the whole community with a vast array of daffodils, crocuses, and snowdrops.

“We are always pleased to engage with companies working locally and are grateful to the generosity shown by Novus and the kind attention given by our Bromford residents and neighbourhood coaches.”
