The finishing touches are being made to Bromford’s latest town centre housing development on the site of Bromsgrove’s former Jobcentre Plus site.

Construction work has been underway for the past 12 months at Recreation Road, where a Masonic hall building used to stand before it later became a jobcentre. Bromford has invested £2.5m to revitalise the site which will now be home to Bryson Place, its latest MyPlace supported housing scheme comprising of 14 single-bedroom flats.

The development will provide adults with a learning disability the opportunity to live independently in their own home and also features a communal hub, office, car parking and landscaped gardens.

As part of the multi-million pound project, which was given the green light by planners at Bromsgrove District Council back in March 2017, another four shared ownership homes have been built taking the total number of new homes to 18. Customers are now expected to begin moving in over the festive period.

Much-needed

MyPlace manager Catherine Ashley said: “We’re really pleased to be bringing this much-needed housing to Bromsgrove and rejuvenating a site steeped in history and which is situated in such a great location, just a stone’s throw from the town centre with its shops, bars and restaurants.

“This is our tenth MyPlace development across the Midlands and as with our others, Bryson Place will really give people with long-term conditions the perfect platform to take control of their own life, reduce their dependency and ultimately live more independently. With home ownership proving so unaffordable for many, the shared ownership properties will also provide high-quality homes which are ideal for first-time buyers hoping to get on the property ladder.”

Open days are being held at Bryson Place every Wednesday before Christmas, between 10am and midday, and anyone wanting to enquire about a MyPlace home should call 07841 800331 or email catherine.ashley@bromford.co.uk. Alternatively for people in the town looking for an affordable first step on to the property ladder please call 0800 085 2499 or email sales@bromford.co.uk.
