Bromford’s latest investment in MyPlace has seen the site of a derelict canalside pub in Worcester transformed into a new three-storey supported housing scheme as part of a £1.7m project - and we're inviting you to come and have a look round.

We have turned land on St George’s Lane North, a short walk from the city centre, into a MyPlace supported housing development for people living with mental health conditions. The site was formerly home to the Cavalier Tavern, once popular with Worcester City fans on match days, before closing down and falling derelict.

Bromford’s in-house construction team has completed the 11-month project and the development comprises of 13 self-contained one-bedroom apartments along with a communal hub, office and car-parking.

Charles Court will offer adults living with mental health conditions the opportunity to live independently in their own home. The on-site resource hub will be used as a place for residents to socialise as well as somewhere that can offer training, employment advice, and activities to the wider community.

Open days

The MyPlace scheme is the third Bromford development of its kind in Worcestershire and officially opens its doors to residents and the public on Monday 3rd July. There will also be two open days on Thursday 29th June (10:30am-2pm) and Thursday 13th July (10am-2pm) for prospective residents, members of the public and partnership organisations to look around the new facility.

Bromford’s MyPlace manager Catherine Ashley said: “This is our fifth MyPlace scheme but the first for adults with an enduring mental health condition and after a lot of regeneration close by we feel sure this is going to greatly enhance the local area.

“We’ve been working closely with Martin Leader of the Worcestershire NHS Primary Care Trust who identified a need for this kind of accommodation in the local area and we are now looking forward to welcoming the first of our residents. Charles Court is in a very picturesque location, right by a canal and a short walk from the city centre, and will offer residents a safe and secure place to take control of their own life, reduce their dependency and ultimately live more independently.”
