The new year has brought a cold snap, and for many people worries about mounting fuel bills. The good news is there are still good energy deals to be had, and help to find them.

The Lichfield Warmer Homes, Greener District advice line provides free and impartial advice on lowering your fuel bills and keeping warm at home.  The scheme’s friendly advisors can help you switch energy provider or get a better deal with your existing supplier. If your fuel payments are getting on top of you, they will help you find the best way forward.

If you’re online, try using a price comparison site to see if you’re getting a good deal on your fuel.   Use a site accredited under the Ofgem Confidence Code – not all the ones that advertise are!  Try www.uswitch.com (0808 1783 492) and have a recent bill or annual statement to hand.  For a full list visit of accredited sites visit www.goenergyshopping.co.uk . If you need some help, call the team at Warmer Homes, Greener District and they will be pleased to walk you through the process.

Npower and SSE are among the energy companies still offering the Warm Homes Discount, a £140 energy fuel bill refund targeted at those on low incomes and with additional needs such as disabilities. However, Bromford customers should act quickly to find out if they are eligible as funds are running low and some energy companies, such as British Gas and Utilita have already closed their schemes. To check if you are eligible call Warmer Homes, Greener District or contact your energy supplier directly.

Warmer Homes, Greener District can also help you find solutions to problems such as understanding your heating controls, controlling damp and mould and changing the way you use electricity to cut your bills.  Sometimes simple changes can make a big difference!

If you live in Lichfield you can go online or contact the advice line on 0800 677 1543 to find out more.
