Whether you live in Burton, Tamworth, Lichfield or the surrounding areas, if you’re looking for a new job or are on the hunt for an exciting new challenge, 23 employers, all with live opportunities, will be on hand at a special jobs fair next Tuesday, 9 September 2014.

Taking place at the Guildhall, Bore Street in Lichfield, WS13 6LU, the employers attending will include Amazon, Boots, the Army, Debenhams, Euro Car Parts and Premier Inn amongst many others. Jobseekers will have the chance to learn about local vacancies, apprenticeships, working from home opportunities and local training courses in a variety of sectors including warehousing, care, retail, hospitality, manufacturing and engineering.

This follows on from the success of Bromford’s first fair earlier this year, running in partnership with Lichfield Job Centre Plus and the Chamber of Commerce. Marilyn Castree, Divisional Director for the Lichfield & Tamworth Chamber of Commerce & Industry Chamber of Commerce said: “We are delighted to support Bromford in running the jobs fair for the second time.

“This is a chance for those seeking jobs to engage with employers and agencies from across the area and identify the variety of employment opportunities on offer. Companies across a variety of size and sectors, who are being represented on the day, will have the opportunity to speak with people and demonstrate they are a growing organisation with the need for more employees.”

“I would like to thank Bromford for their time and effort in organising this event and the foresight to involve the Chamber of Commerce & Industry, who is the support organisation for business.”

National Careers Advice Service will also be on hand to provide some top tips and solve any job-hunting problems.

The event will run from 10.30am to 2.30pm. Bromford's employer liaison manager, Michael Pritchard, said: “I would urge anyone who wants to come to book with me on 01543 420848 or email, and be quick, as spaces are filling up fast.”

Euro Car Parts in Dorden attended the first fair and have employed four so far from it. They are now offering further vacancies on an ongoing basis.

Euro Car Parts case study

Two local men, Mike Brereton and Stephen Dalton were both unemployed for over two months but were quickly taken on board after meeting PDM Training and Euro Car Parts who work together to provide a three week training and employment scheme.

Mike says: “It was great to meet PDM at the fair and to hear that they provide training with a qualification and job at the end of it. When I was unemployed I felt disillusioned, disappointed and frustrated as agencies can filter you out and you don’t get to meet the employer directly. This scheme works well as you have two weeks to see how the operation runs and do health and safety with a final week as a work placement. I want to progress in the company and hope there will be an opportunity to be a team leader.”

Stephen agreed that this has provided him with an opportunity to get a job without going though an agency. He says: “I had positive feedback at the jobs fair and I am so glad to have a full-time job after being unemployed!”
