A team of ten volunteers from Bromford in the West Midlands will be at Tesco in Springhill this Friday, 7 June between 11am and 5pm, asking shoppers to donate items for the Ark Project as part of Volunteers Week.
Founded by the Christian Life Centre in Selly Oak, the Ark Project provides a food and clothing bank for the homeless and vulnerable. It also provides clothing, personal hygiene items and laundry goods for those in need.
Mark Cresser, Senior Support Worker for Bromford said: “Christian Life has recently helped us with funding for one of our young people’s schemes in Selly Oak so we wanted to give something back as part of Volunteers Week.
“We need non perishable or ‘emergency’ foods so would welcome anything tinned or biscuits, rice, pasta, cereal and bread. If people can’t get to the supermarket we have boxes situated at our main offices in Wolverhampton, Solihull, Cirencester and Lichfield*,where people can drop goods off. Non-food items would also be appreciated. Otherwise we look forward to seeing people on Friday!”
Jessica Pritchardat the Ark Project said: “This is a great week for people to get involved and every item will go directly to someone who really needs it. The public can also donate by calling 0121 471 3677 and ask for Mel Smith.”
