Bromford Support, one of Newbury's leading support providers, is throwing open the doors to Fountain Gardens on Friday (5th Oct), a scheme promoting independent living for adults with mental health needs.

Taking place in Ashridge court, the community fun day aims to promote mental health awareness in Newbury. The day will see local organisations, public services and neighborhood groups all running stands, with activities including tombola, a diversity themed lunch, stocks, a bake sale, fairground stalls and mental health awareness quizzes. The local police and fire service will also be holding demonstrations, with fire apparatus and police vehicles onsite.

Open to everyone and with more than 60 community members expected already, visitors will also be able to take a tour of Fountain Gardens and chat to residents about their stories and achievements.

The event will begin at 12pm and run until 4pm, with Newbury Mayor Councilor Arthur Johnson dropping in to see the work of Bromford Support during the day. All proceeds will be used to support the residents of Fountain Gardens and provide exciting days out and activities.

Adella Matley, Bromford Support Service Manager for Fountain Gardens, believes the day will not only give residents and the community an exciting day of activities, but will also raise awareness of the work of Fountain Gardens and the need for mental health support in Newbury"

She said, "The support we offer at Fountain Gardens is focused on enabling people to live independently in their own homes. It is not about doing tasks for them, but supporting them to be able to do these tasks themselves.

"Our support doesn't just end when customers leave Fountains Gardens either", explains Adella. "When customers leave their flat at Fountain Gardens to live in the community, our team will continue to provide support in their new home to ensure they are settled and safe."
