A happy new year is in prospect for one of the first families to have moved into a Bromford home at the landmark Friars Gate development in Dudley.

Tenants Lindsey Silvester and John Dickinson told a local newspaper that they were delighted with their new affordable home on the former North Priory housing estate.

The move was extra special, according to the Dudley News story, because they and their two boys had lived at one of the old Dudley Council houses before they were demolished and then moved away to Stourbridge.

After four years of daily commuting to take young Joshua and Thomas to and from their Dudley school, Lindsey couldn't wait to return - and jumped at the chance of a new Bromford three-bed semi at the renamed Friars Gate.

One of the first families to move in, they are full of praise for the home and the first phase of this blossoming new community - made possible by a £5.6m Homes and Community Agency kick-start investment.

"Everyone on the estate is so lovely and friendly - everyone speaks. That's the great thing about Dudley residents and that's what I missed," Lindsey told the Dudley News.

"We had been watching the houses go up, which was exciting. Then, when we came to see the showhome, I couldn't wait to get back."
