Bromford executive director Helen Collins will set the scene when affordable housing senior professionals from around the world gather in the Netherlands.

She is making the opening conference address in her capacity as newly-elected president of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) at November's International Housing Summit.

Helen will join hundreds of senior delegates from around 20 countries for two intensive days of hard-hitting debate, inspiring keynote speeches and working lunch sessions.

She describes the Rotterdam summit as a golden opportunity to learn from other housing professionals at a time when it has never been more important to share ideas.

"Housing faces a crisis worldwide - and despite the differences in financing and regulatory approaches across the globe, affordable housing practitioners from the Midlands to Melbourne face many challenges in common," said Helen, who heads the development team at Bromford.

"The International Housing Summit is an invaluable opportunity for senior practitioners from the UK and all the other countries to take away ideas and connections that will help shape their organisation and sector into the future."

Helen's attendance at Rotterdam is being paid for by CIH and Ocean Media, the conference organisers.
"The conference is a great opportunity for Helen to bring home some learning and ideas from an event at which we wouldn't otherwise have attended," said chief executive Mick Kent.

"And, of course, it will be a highlight of Helen's six-month presidency before she takes up the role of chairing the CIH governing board in January 2012."
