Who are Bromford?
Bromford is a social enterprise that’s been around for over 50 years. Using our profit for purpose we work throughout central England to support people to be their best. Whether that's owning or renting a home, getting into training, volunteering or employment, getting their life back on track or simply living independently – we have a range of services and products in place to help customers. We’re also a housing developer that delivers around 600 new homes a year. We build many of these new homes ourselves with our in house contractor and work in partnership with local authorities, developers, land owners and agents. Our focus is buying land for our programme of extra care and supported housing schemes.
Why does Bromford want to buy land?
We have a long history of providing new homes across central England and currently manage over 28,000 homes. We work in partnership with local authorities, developers, land owners and agents to deliver over 600 new homes per year. We want to meet some of the huge demand for housing for older people (extra care) and housing for those with specialist support needs (learning disabilities and mental health needs). What type of land is Bromford looking for?
We are looking to meet a challenging development programme to include mixed tenure extra care for older people and market-led specialist schemes for customers with learning disabilities and mental health needs. And for this we need to purchase land.
Here are the brief characteristics we’re looking for:
- High Quality Areas - We are looking for good quality market sale sites.
- Between 0.4 and 1.5 acres. An acre is about the size of half a football pitch, so something around that size is perfect. But if your site falls slightly under or over this size please don’t be put off from contacting us.
- Close to shops, amenities and facilities - within ½ mile’ half a mile from an established centre and public transport.
- Well-located and prominent – located in busy areas with good access.
- Within established residential areas.
Where is Bromford looking to buy land?
We build homes throughout central England. That’s essentially from Aylesbury to Stoke-on-Trent and everywhere in between. We are looking for available land across this area.
For our extra care developments we are ideally looking for a market town settings, although we are not limited to these locations if the area is desirable for older people.

How can I be sure what you build won’t be an eyesore?
We will work with you to agree the plans for any new development before you make a commitment to sell your land to us. We will then work in partnership with you until planning permission is granted. We can even help in providing details of gardener designers who can help you make the most of your remaining garden space.
Could my property be de-valued as a result of the development?
Some new-build homes are now selling for a higher premium. Having such busy lifestyles, most people have little or no time to maintain properties with large gardens and are now opting for a low maintenance option instead. We will work with you to ensure our development is built sympathetically to its surroundings and is not detrimental to the value of your property.
What’s Bromford’s financial position?
We have available funds already in the bank for land purchases and therefore we don’t need to go to a third party for funding for specific schemes.
