“Hi, I’m here today to show you how to re-secure a door handle in your home, this is what you need to do.”

“First thing to try is simply just re-tightening the screws that are already in the handle, you can do this by using a screwdriver, if you have this type of handle simply just tighten the screws up, but if it’s this type of handle you’ll need to remove the cover first and this is how you do it.”

“You’ll need a flat head screwdriver, simply place it in the slot underneath the cover and gentle prise it off, then you can remove the cover to access the screws, if you’ve tried tightening the screws up in the handle and this hasn’t worked you’ll need to remove the door handle, if it’s this type of handle simply take out the screws and put them safely to one side and the handle should come away from the door, however if it’s this type of handle you’ll need to remove the cover like previously shown undo the four screws and you’ll also need to undo an Alan key located on the handle, once you’ve removed the handle you’ll notice the four screw holes in the door, now what you need to do now is places some timber in them holes for this you can use matchsticks, how if you are using matchsticks it is important that you remove the match head before carrying on, you’ll need to place the matchsticks in the screw holes.”

“You’ll then need to wedge these pieces of timber in the hole, push them in until there tight, you may need to use a couple pieces of timber or a few matchsticks you may also need to gently tap them in with a hammer, if there’s any timber sticking out you can simply snap these off like so or you can use a chisel, once you’ve done this you’ll need to reattach the door handle to the door, you’ll need to place the handle onto the spindle and then reattach the four screws you kept safe to one side, back into the screw holes, you’ll then need to get your Alan key and retighten it onto the spindle, if you’ve tried these steps and it hasn’t worked or you’re unsure feel free to contact us using the information below so someone like myself can come out and repair this for you, thanks for watching.”
