Our DNA sits at the heart of our business. It’s the essence of who we are, what we do and why we do. It was developed by more than 500 colleagues, talking about why Bromford is special; what makes us different and how we should operate. That is why our DNA forms such a crucial part in how we recruit.

Your application
We have designed our application process to give you a feel for what it's like to work here, to understand a little more about the role and the part you will play in the team.

Most of our interviews are competency-based questions, testing your suitability for the role. But we also ask a lot of behaviour-based questions, which are based around our DNA to make sure you are a good fit. And, it’s not always about you having experience in a specific area; sometimes it’s about your skills and how they can be transferred into a role so that you can thrive.

Firstly, you will have a telephone review with one of our in-house recruiters to discuss the role in more detail. If you make the shortlist you will get an invite to interview. This could be a virtual interview, face-to-face interview, or an assessment centre, and we often include some technical testing too. In trades roles for example, practical tests are a way for you to showcase some of your skills through a series of maintenance-based activities. For customer services, there are some customer-based scenarios for you to go through. It will all be explained to you in advance, so there'll be no surprises.

In our recruitment processes, we'll also be considering your attitude and behaviour as much as your knowledge and experience - we want to make sure we're the right match for each other.

We want this experience to be a positive one and to work for us both. We want you to come away with a better understanding of what we have to offer and if it meets your needs and ambitions. So please come prepared with any questions you may have.

Feedback
We always try to provide feedback to every shortlisted candidate and aim to do so within ten working days of the closing date. Sometimes there are exceptions to this, especially when we receive high volumes of applications, so if you've requested feedback and not heard back within this time, feel free to give us a nudge.

Pre-employment checks
We’re committed to recruiting with care and safeguarding employees and customers. As a result, we will carry out pre-employment checks. The nature of these checks will vary according to the role applied for and may include details of current/previous employment, unspent criminal convictions, education and proof of relevant qualifications and for some roles, a consumer check. We also ask for references for everyone who is offered a job with us. All potential employees will be asked for evidence of their right to live and work in the UK - further information about your right to live and work in the UK is available on the UK Government website.
