Time to test your fire alarms

The content in this article may now be out of date. Please try searching for a more recent version.

It's important that you test your smoke alarms in your home.

According to the government, over 200 people died in their homes last year due to a fire. We want to make sure that you are safe in your home. You can help yourself out by checking your smoke alarms to make sure they are in working order.

You should check your smoke alarm once a month. Never take the batteries out of a smoke alarm. You should have a working smoke alarm for each level your home has. If you find that you do not have a smoke alarm or you have an alarm which is faulty or in need of a repair, make sure you report this to us straight away on 0330 1234 034.
