Robert from Staffordshire turned to drink after being bullied by neighbours at his last home. Taking its toll on his health, he suffered heart failure: “I was in hospital and it was touch and go for a while. I hadn’t been looking after myself.”

That was the wake up call he needed to change things around. Robert said: “I was a mess. I didn’t know where to turn and wanted to commit suicide. I had cut my arms – looking back, I wonder what that was all about.

“I swapped cider for fizzy pop and it sounds silly but it saved my life! That and my sister and Bromford. I realise I have a family who love me and Bromford has been there for me and I can always talk to them.

“No matter how bad things get, there is always something better around the corner. I am now in a much better place, am calmer and looking towards the future.”
