Executive director Andrew Battrum has announced his decision to retire this summer and we’re very pleased to today reveal the identity of his successor.

Lee Gibson (above and right) has been appointed Bromford’s new executive director of finance after an extensive selection process. He started work at Bromford on Monday 16th May and will work closely with Andrew during a period of transition before his retirement in July.

Lee is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and has an Accounting and Business Studies degree plus 20 years’ experience working for blue chip organisations such as Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Atos. He is a firm believer that as well as ensuring tight financial controls are in place, the finance function should add value by providing the right financial and commercial support to the wider business. Lee is particularly passionate about ensuring the finance function serves the needs of both internal and external customers.

Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his young family and is a keen sportsman including skiing, sailing, running marathons, cycling, swimming and triathlons.

Lee said:

The welcome I’ve received so far has been brilliant. Being a newbie to the sector, there is clearly much to learn and I plan to spend time with colleagues across the organisation both office-based and out in the field to get a better understanding of where we’re at and where we want to get to.

Andrew joined Bromford back in 1999 and has been heavily involved in some of our key historic milestones over that 17 year period, including the mergers with Fosseway in 2006 and Homezone in 2007 and then more recently the rating by Moody’s, which saw us gain and since retain our industry-leading AA3 rating.

Chief executive Philippa Jones added:

Andrew will be a hard act to follow but I’m delighted to welcome Lee who I know will be equally committed to making sure we have the right resources in place to carry on delivering the right homes, right services and right relationship that will help our customers be their best.
